Sea stars, commonly called starfish, are captivating marine organisms found in oceans around the world. Belonging to the phylum Echinodermata, these creatures are known for their unique radial symmetry and typically five arms, although some species have more. Sea stars have a tough outer skeleton made of calcium carbonate plates and move using a hydraulic system that operates tube feet. These tube feet are also used to capture prey like mollusks and crustaceans by prying open their shells. Sea stars are famous for their regenerative abilities, able to regrow lost arms if damaged or detached.
