Lamprey Rigged is a three-dimensional model of Lamprey (lamprey eel) which is a specimen of ancient lineage of jawless fish of the order Petromyzontiformes.
Lampreys are ancient jawless fish characterized by their eel-like bodies and toothed, funnel-shaped mouths. Found in both freshwater and saltwater environments worldwide, they're primitive vertebrates that have remained relatively unchanged for millions of years. Despite lacking true jaws, lampreys are skilled predators, attaching themselves to other fish with their suction-cup mouths to feed on blood and bodily fluids. While some lamprey species are parasitic, others are non-parasitic, feeding on detritus and small invertebrates. Their unique life cycle involves a metamorphosis from larvae to adults, during which they undergo remarkable physiological changes. The adult lamprey is characterized by a toothed, funnel-like sucking mouth.
