The pigeye shark, scientifically known as Carcharhinus amboinensis or Java shark, which typically inhabits shallow coastal waters and can also be found in estuaries and river mouths. This shark species is characterized by its slender body, long snout, and distinctively small eyes, which give it its common name. The pigeye shark is generally harmless to humans and primarily feeds on small bony fishes, crustaceans, and cephalopods. Its conservation status is currently of least concern, although it faces potential threats from habitat degradation and fishing activities.
