These cells have a centrally located nucleus and are typically found lining the kidney tubules, various glands, and the ducts of certain organs. Cuboidal epithelium is involved in functions such as absorption, secretion, and protection. The height of the cells can vary, with some being taller than they are wide, giving them a columnar appearance.
