Ghost Bat’s military designation is MQ-28A. The -28A designation follows the U.S. Navy’s MQ-25A Stingray aerial refueling and surveillance drone. The platform leverages artificial intelligence (AI) technologies extensively, enabling it to fly missions in support of crewed air assets (while maintaining a safe distance) or conduct independent operations in the battlespace. Its digital open architecture backbone permits the swift integration of new sensor packages, enabling the MQ-28A to carry out a number of different roles, ranging from ISR and air combat operations to tactical early warning missions.
