The penny-farthing, a vintage high-wheel bicycle, featured a large front wheel and a small rear one. Popular in the late 19th century, it offered speed advantages due to its direct-drive mechanism. Riders sat high above the large wheel, giving it a distinctive appearance but making it less stable. Named after British coins, its design resembles their size disparity.
