The grass snake (Natrix natrix), also referred to as the ringed snake or water snake, is a non-venomous colubrid native to Eurasia. It is commonly found near water bodies like ponds, rivers, and marshes, thriving in these damp environments. Feeding almost exclusively on amphibians, grass snakes hunt frogs and newts. They are easily identifiable by their greenish coloration and the distinctive yellow or white collar around their neck.
