The Norwegian Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System, or NASAMS, a surface-to-air defense system developed by Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace and Raytheon Missiles & Defense, which can detect targets 75 miles away and engage them at 19 miles. NASAMS can be classed as a system that uses adapted air-to-air missiles for land-based air defense. NASAMS can fire different types of missiles – the AIM-120 AMRAAM medium-range air-to-air missile, the FIM-92 Stinger, AIM-9 Sidewinder and the German IRIS-T air-to-air missile.
