Maggot May Bug Rigged Fur is a three-dimensional model of specimen of larval stage of maybug insect (Melolontha melolontha or cockchafer), which is the juvenile stage of the well known May beetle.
The Maybug larva, also known as the cockchafer grub, represents the juvenile phase of the May beetle. These larvae exhibit a cream-colored body with a distinctive reddish-brown head, adopting a C-shaped form. They reside underground, sustaining themselves by consuming plant roots, notably grasses and young crops, causing potential damage to agricultural fields and gardens. Maturing over a span of three to four years, these larvae molt several times before reaching the pupal stage. Adult May beetles emerge from these pupae during late spring or early summer.
