The Winchester 1873 is popularly known as the “Gun That Won the West,” thanks to smart advertising by the manufacturer, as the West was not won by just one gun. Originally chambered for 44-40 ammo, the Winchester 1873 was later produced for 38-40 and 32-20 handgun cartridges, allowing the user to carry just one kind of ammo when switching between a rifle and handgun. There are three variations of the Winchester 1873 rifle; a full-stocked musket, carbine, and sporting model.
