Character is wearing a distinctive white robe, often called "mantle," and conical hat, called "hood" or "pointed hat." These garments were meant to conceal their identities while promoting an image of fear and intimidation. The robes symbolized purity, while the masks allowed members to hide their faces, often to carry out violent actions without being identified. The cross-burning ritual, along with the robe and hood, became a terrifying symbol of the Klan's racist agenda.
