Three Large Hailstones is a three-dimensional model of hailstone pieces which are ice pellets formed in severe thunderstorms.
The hailstone formation begins with the freezing of supercooled water droplets, which are lifted by updrafts in the storm cloud. As these frozen particles collide and merge, hailstones grow in size. Larger hailstones can cause damage to crops, vehicles, and buildings upon impact. The study of hailstone size and frequency contributes to our understanding of severe weather patterns.
